Executive Coaching

A has given some very good feedback in terms of your support and his development during his time working with you. Given the ambitious agenda within the organisation – and the challenges for A within his role – A is keen to continue working with you next academic year.

After some discussions with senior managers across our business, we feel that some of them may benefit from having some coaching sessions with yourself. We provide Senior Leader development centres and some managers do not know how to deal with the feedback and / or are not comfortable in discussing it, therefore I think you would be great. After discussing my own experiences with other members of HR across the business they are also interested in you providing this service for them as I have told them that you are brilliant! Thanks very much Neville

One of our senior managers had the following response to his coaching:

“Having this sounding board has saved the University a lot of expensive time. I have learned to be in less of a hurry to action and realised that engaging others and lobbying more can achieve a better outcome with more commitment to the end product. Previously I would have written s proposal myself and then tabled it at a meeting. Now I engage others on the production of proposals and get a far better response at the meeting. I have also learned to lead more quietly and have subsequently put my foot in fewer puddles!

I have been less defensive and more calm in approach and have found that it sometimes has a better impact. I have recognised that at times it is better to stand back and be patient. In other words to use time as a tool.”

Your coaching has really helped this Manager to develop their self-awareness and to become more effective in their dealings with others. Many thanks.

As newly formed Executive Team we had some members whose experience spanned 20 plus years and some who were very new, not only to the team but to Leadership and Management. Add to that a changing market place and the need for new strategy and smarter ways of working ‘together’ it was quickly recognised that if the team were going to be able to rise to the challenges ahead then we needed to call on some expert help.

We engaged The Neville Wharton Business Psychology Group to work with us to devise and implement personal and team development plans that would ensure that we were equipped to not only meet our business objectives but to grow as individuals and see real benefit from being part of a larger team.

Through a series of one-to-one coaching and team development days we have seen a vast improvement in the way in which individuals deal with people, situations and in how they approach change, opportunities and challenges. As a team there is much more understanding of the relative role that each member plays and the added value that is available in working together.

One interesting aspect of this professional development has been that some of the team are now moving on to do different things both internal and external to the University. Knowing that as individuals they are equipped to deal with stepping up and that they will deal easily with new challenges is extremely rewarding.

A big “thank you” for all your time and efforts over the last 18 month period. Your Leadership inputs have helped me enormously. I have fed back positively to Staff Development and I will certainly recommend your coaching programme to any of my colleagues who may be deliberating over whether to enrol or not in the future.

Assessment/Psychometrics

Psychometric Assessment : Chief Executive Newcastle Science City

Neville your contribution was much appreciated and helped us to select the best candidate for the role. There has been very positive feedback from all candidates on the psychometric process.

Development Centre : Faculty of Science, Agriculture and Science

Thanks Neville your comments were as usual very helpful. The good news is that the observer reports are coming in very consistently and are very clear about the key strengths and derailers for each of the individuals. The psychometric reports have also added to my confidence. I plan to pull the key themes together to share with The Faculty focusing on the development angle.

Your comments on one of the participants were really helpful when I talked through his report with him this morning... once again everything fell into place and made sense.

Thanks again.

Facilitation

Workshop – Facilitation and Feedback Skills : Sunderland University

The feedback from the day was excellent, handouts, your style and the discussions you had. The exercise in the afternoon particularly, has made a few of them reflect on their styles and approach!

Thanks very much, I appreciate the gesture of you picking this up (and the staff certainly did).

Facilitation : School of Design Management Team Away Day

Alison, thank you very much for this: I had heard that the day was something of a journey but that it had a successful conclusion. I think the next stage is the most critical in identifying the group’s needs and supporting individuals. Thank you for guiding us forward.

Facilitation : School of Design Management Team Away Day

The facilitator had been briefed to expect one thing when in fact the middle management had a different expectation. Presentation was excellent. A really strong facilitator. This was an experienced facilitator who clearly had to keep rethinking how she would proceed but did so with great aplomb and integrity so that the workshop worked for the different stakeholders.
